Have just returned home from a morning tea at Nanna Lamberts. Major Margaret Evans must have been hot inside her Mayoral garb at this morning's Australia Day commemorations, awards ceremony and the taking of the oath of citizenship. Overnight temperature was meant to be about 22 degrees, and in the sun it sure was hot at 8:30am today.
About 105,000 of the Ngarkat Forest has burnt out now, and apparently bushfires at Halls Gap in Victoria are contributing to the haze we have over our town at the moment.
"Nanna" Margaret Lambert received her Berri Citizen of the Year (2006) award today. A lot of proud family members and friends were there in a well attended Australia Day breakfast on the Vaughan Terrace lawns. Nanna's contributions to Berri and Riverland netball and sport, special education and respite services were recognised. We were all very proud of her. Regrettably nobody had a video camera to share the moment with others.
We enjoyed morning tea at Nanna's with well-wishers and had a pleasant time chatting about all manner of things. Congratulations Nanna.
