Who should coach us? Give Graeme Arnold the job, for 2 years at least. Appoint
someone like Houllier or another world-class coach as a "technical director",
not head coach, to offer insights and advice and sit on the sidelines with tips.
Arnold might bloom into a world-class international coach. After 2 years, see if
we need another Hiddink-type to finish the job. But please don't blow money on a
world-class manager unless he is going to develop the players in a way that
rules Arnold out on the grounds of class.
Well, in the Sydney Morning Herald article today (linked to the heading of this post), perhaps more through the FFA not being able to find a satisfactory replacement than good planning, my wish has been granted.
I am pleased to see that John Kosmina's calls for a youth league are being heeded also. The future is bright.
