Joshua waiting for Cars movie - Australia Fair
We were waiting for Australia Fair cinemas to open 10/6/2006, sitting at the cafe next door. For Joshua's birthday (12/6) we decided to take him to see the Cars movie, after Rikki read a review that it ought to be appropriate for children 6+ (even though Joshua has just turned 4) and featured no inappropriate violence or sexual references. (T.I.C*: allusions to drug use with the hippy comby van character and his "alternate" fuels!)
The Cars movie was long (over 2 hours) but quite entertaining. On an adult level it was a social comment about the way progress leaves behind some things that we once held dear. I don't want to spoil the movie for you, but be watching for the sentimental references to rural America. There are similarities with rural Australia. Generally, the movie is a good laugh and good clean family fun. Age appropriate for 4 upwards, in my view. 3 1/2 stars.
